Career
Overview
Well, I've had what some would call a squiggly career, starting in London’s fast-paced advertising industry, jumping across sectors, and landing in fundraising, communications, and strategy for the nonprofit world. It's been anything but linear, and I'm ok with that, because the unexpected detour has led me to where I am now: empowering charities and CICs to maximise their impact and serve their communities better.
With over six years of experience in nonprofit development, I have helped organisations secure over £1 million in funding, develop fundraising and communications strategies, and improve their operational effectiveness. My work spans grantmaking, strategic planning, digital transformation, and impact evaluation, with a focus on ensuring organisations have the tools and resources they need to thrive.
Freelance Nonprofit Specialist | February 2025 - Present
Transitioning into full-time freelance work has allowed me to focus on supporting Leicester-based organisations while taking on wider opportunities.
In a nutshell, I help organisations build sustainability, tell their stories, and secure the resources they need to make an impact. My work includes:
Advisory & Policy Work
Sitting on panels and boards, advising on funding and policy, and pushing for equity in grantmaking.
Project Management & Impact Evaluation
Making sure projects do what they set out to do: on budget, on time, and with clear results.
Fundraising & Income Strategy
Helping organisations secure grants, explore income streams beyond traditional fundraising, and create financial stability that lasts.
Communications & Digital Strategy
Developing campaigns, managing social media, and building websites that actually engage audiences, not just exist.
Grants Assessing & Programme Development
Assessing funding applications, co-designing grant programmes, and making sure funding gets to where it is needed most.
Organisational Development & Governance
Strengthening internal structures, supporting boards, and making sure organisations are built to last.
Prior Career Experiences
If you want the full picture of my career, where I have worked, what I have done, and how I got here, you're probably better off reading through my CV. It has all the details, from roles and projects to the organisations I have worked with and the journey that brought me to this point.
But let's be honest, a CV can only say so much. The best conversations happen outside of job titles and bullet points. So if you want to connect, whether to talk about potential work, shared interests, or just to have a chat, I am always happy to.
